Meet Our Team

David M. Flaum
Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Flaum oversees all aspects of Flaum Management including its portfolio, Brokerage Services, and Commercial Property Management components. Mr. Flaum has been the key leader in multiple projects that have created thousands of jobs throughout the region and has successfully executed a value added strategy throughout the portfolio.

Mr. Flaum was recently awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from New York State Commercial Association of Realtors; (NYSCAR) Rochester Chapter. He has also been awarded the Certificate of Merit and Renaissance Award from the City of Rochester for his contributions in the Northeast and has successfully executed a value added strategy throughout the portfolio. Mr. Flaum serves on the Board of Trustees for the University of Rochester Medical Center, the Board of Trustees at Syracuse University, and the Board of Trustees for the University of Rochester. Mr. Flaum currently serves as National Chairman for the Republican Jewish Coalition. Mr. Flaum has had two (2) Presidential Appointments as a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. And is currently a member of the USHMM Financial Committee and Collections and Conservation Committee. Mr. Flaum has also won Real Estate Entrepreneurs of the Year Award by Ernst & Young, LLC.

Mr. Flaum and his wife, Ilene have the spirit of philanthropy and their volunteerism extends to many aspects of the Rochester community and throughout Upstate New York. Naming such as The Sara Flaum Atrium at the University of Rochester, and the David & Ilene Grand Hall at the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. Mr. and Mrs. Flaum also support many local and not-for-profit charities.

Asher Flaum

President

Asher Flaum has served as President of Flaum Management since 2002 and brings a depth of real estate experience including property management, operations, tenant relations, leasing and development. He has been involved in numerous real estate deals involving both local and national companies. Asher is a licensed real estate broker and graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science degree and was a member of the 2000 men's Lacrosse national championship team. Mr. Flaum is a member of the New York State Commercial Association of Realtors, the International Council of Shopping Centers and the National Association of Realtors. Mr. Flaum is also active in charitable works and not for profit groups throughout the region.

Michael Palumbo

Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Palumbo has over 30 years of commerical real estate brokerage experience. He joined Flaum Management in 1998 as Vice-President of Acquisitions. He currently holds the title of Chief Operating Officer and handles the day to day operations of the company. Prior to joining Flaum Management, Mr. Palumbo served as an Associate Broker at CB Richard Ellis. Mr. Palumbo was a founding member of the Rochester Chapter of the New York State Commercial Association of Realtors. Mr. Palumbo is a member of the New York State Commercial Association of Reatlors, the International Council of Shopping Centers and the National Association of Realtors and serves on the State By-Laws Committee of the New York State Commercial Association of Realtors. Mr. Palumbo oversees the activitites of Flaum Management’s entire leasing staff.

Loren Flaum

Loren Flaum
Vice President – Finance

Loren Flaum joined the company in 2009 and brings knowledge of finance, management, and acquisitions to the Flaum Management Team. He is involved in the financial and fiscal management of the company, acquisition due diligence and execution, and manages financial relationships. Loren coordinates the acquisition due diligence and execution, business planning, administrative, accounting, and management efforts as well. Loren brings capital markets and a finance background through previous experience at Bear Stearns & Co., as a Private Client Services Sales and Trading Assistant as well as Jones Trading Institutional Services, LLC in the Capital Markets Group. Loren is a 2005 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and a member of the Division 1 Varsity Lacrosse Team. In 2009 Loren received a Master of Science in Real Estate -Concentration in Finance and Investments from New York University Schack Institute of Real Estate. Also in 2011, he received a Master of Business Administration with a dual concentration in Finance and Entrepreneurship at the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Rochester.

Jerry Griffo

Jerry Griffo
Vice President - Construction/Facilities Management

Mr. Griffo has vast maintance and property management experience and oversees all properties owned by Flaum Management. Mr. Griffo supervises a large staff of property management professionals and coordinates all construction projects for Flaum Management and its related entities.

Darren Ressler

Darren Ressler
Vice President – Development

Darren came to Flaum Management in the summer of 2007. He brings with him 6 years of sales and marketing experience with the Florida Marlins where he helped the team win a World Series Championship in 2003. Darren is currently working as a real estate analyst and aiding marketing efforts on current and future properties. He also handles the marketing and leasing of The Galleries in Syracuse, NY.  Darren has a bachelor's degree from The George Washington University.

Scott Burdett

Scott Burdett
Vice President - Marketing & Brokerage Services

Mr. Burdett joined Flaum Management in 2005 to aid in the marketing and leasing of the companies property portfolio. Currently, he serves as the Vice President of Marketing & Brokerage Services for Flaum Management as well as focusing on tenant and landord representation for a variety of local, regional and national companies. Mr. Burdett previously served on the Board of Directors for the Rochester Area Chapter of the New York State Commercial Association of Realtors and currently sits on the State Technology Committee for the New York State Commercial Associaton of Realtors. He is also a member of the Rochester Downtown Development Corporation’s Urban Retail Development Committee and the Rochester Regional Design Center’s Downtown Strategic Task Force.

Harry King

Harry King
Project Manager

Mr. King has over 14 years experience serving the Rochester community and surrounding area. His background began during a college internship with a public accounting firm, which grew into a fulltime position. Mr. King went on to work for a national brokerage firm with 17 branch offices and more than 700 employees managing and analyzing data to comply with SEC and SIPC mandates at the corporate headquarters. This experience has proved invaluable for Flaum Management by allowing them to successfully manage and synchronize their various database platforms. Mr. King is a license real estate broker and has an associate's degree from Monroe Community College and a bachelor's degree from State University of New York at Brockport. Mr. King simultaneously manages several projects for Flaum Management and oversees a number of operating businesses in the Flaum Management portfolio; along with lease negotiations and site selection for numerous Flaum Management clients. Mr. King is active in his community and church volunteering throughout the year and severs as the Co-Director of the G&T Bicycling Club.

Paul Paeth

Paul Paeth
Accountant

Mr. Paeth has been with Flaum Management since March 1994. He has over 20 years working in the accounting field. Paul graduated with a BS in Accounting from St John Fisher College in 1990. Prior to joining Flaum Management, Paul worked for 4 years as Controller for Phelps Sungas, Inc., a propane gas delivery company, in Geneva, NY. Paul is very active in his community. He is an officer with the Canandaigua Elks Lodge and is active in many veterans and charitable activities.

Tim Leathers

Tim Leathers
Controller

Mr. Leathers joined the company in April of 2011. Tim graduated Summa Cum Laude from St. John Fisher College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Prior to joining Flaum Management, Tim gained six years of experience in the public accounting industry. He also brings with him more than eight years of experience from the auto parts manufacturing industry.

Michael Wright

Mr. Wright joined Flaum Management in May of 2015. Michael has a Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Plattsburgh. Prior to joining Flaum Management, Michael has gained 10 years of accounting experience, with 8 of those years in the property management industry.

Joshua S. Pheterson, Esq

Legal Counsel

Mr. Pheterson joined Flaum Management in 2014 as the company’s Chief Legal Officer. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Pheterson was an associate in the Real Estate and Finance Department of Woods Oviatt Gilman LLP. Josh was a Corporate and Real Estate Associate at Fix Spindelman Brovitz & Goldman PC and an Associate in the Corporate and Executive Compensation and Benefits departments at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP. In 2004, Josh graduated Cum Laude from Harvard Law School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial and labor relations at Cornell University and a Master of Arts Degree in political science from Yale University.

Gerald Hitchcock

Project Manager

Mr. Hitchcock joined the Flaum Management in 2000. Prior to joining Flaum Management Jerry spent 9 years in the electrical trades as a foreman. Since joining us as a maintenance technician he has developed many skills in a wide range of trades. He is now a project manager for our construction and maintenance division.

Mr. Griffo, Jr. joined the Flaum Management in 2014. He has acquired over 15 years of electrical and construction management experience. Jerry is responsible for the coordination of all facility maintenance and supervises the staff of maintenance technicians.

Debbie Rector

Debbie Rector
Administrative Assistant

Deborah Rector joined Flaum Management Company in January of 2013 as the Administrative Assistant to the Vice-President of Construction/Facilities Management. Mrs. Rector brings with her 12 years of property management experience, where she was responsible for the management of several Rochester area commercial properties in addition to a 64 unit and 256 unit residential apartment complexes. Mrs. Rector currently is the primary contact to the Tenants for all of our entities.
